Characteristics Option not showing up?

Hi

I tried to use characteristics



And add it to my product



But it doesnt show up in front end



Did i miss something? Settings?

Hi,

You have to go in the tab "Variants" and generate the values you want for your products.
Please note that when you use the "add variants" button, you can select several values for each characteristic in order to generate several variants in one single time.

Hi,

We updated our site last week to HikaShop 2.5 on a Joomla 3.4 and we have a issues with Characteristics and Variants.

Some products didn't show the options any more. We had to manually add them (1st thing we noticed is when we chose that Characteristic & Default > Save (Then save the product completely), the Add to Cart changes to Choose Options, but when you go to the product no option is available.

So we did the Variants tab, and had to manually add each Variant & Save, then we could get the dropdown to show on the product page.

The other issue was that we had 2 characteristics to add to multiple products, painfully they all had to be selected individually & manually, same thing if I already have one characteristic and add a new one to it, it only shows the default for the one. Unless I go in and manually add all the variants.

There is definitely something wrong in the way products are managed, variants are a great option and helps, but now it looking more like a pain manage.

Finally, we went ahead to a new Variant to an existing Characteristic (which sometimes happens a new spec or just a mistake), e.g. Size (1-5) will be (1-7), well after adding the Variant to the Characteristic, it did not show on any of the products that has this option, so we had to go in and manually add it to each product that had that Characteristic (Using the Variant tab) then it was added to the dropdown list.

Are we doing something wrong OR this version is not ready for production?

This is causing major issues with our clients who are already using the updated shop.

Any help on this issue would be most welcome.

Hi,

The version is ready for production ; the system has been used and tested during several months by the HikaMarket users.
The system has been think and designed to be more efficient that the previous interface, on every points.

Yes, the automatic generation of the variants is now deactivated and no, we won't reintroduce it.
There were too many website with issues using the automatic generation ; they created thousand of variants without knowing it and it crashed they website.

But the new system allow to generate easily and in a very short time, a lot of variants: pasteboard.co/2c68tgLr.png
And you can also duplicate variants, which will use the same configuration (same images, same prices, etc) : pasteboard.co/2cz7ubAL.png

Thanks to that two elements, the management of the variants is fast and efficient.
We will continue to improve it thanks to some interesting feedback and ideas we got ; but the actual system is working, is ready for production and does not have major issue.

Hi Jerome,

Thank you, for confirming the situation with the Variants and Production version. We do acknowledge it being of great help, we'll take it as a compromise for this great feature and start to consider this additional time in our time estimate and planning for our next projects.
