First, about the off topic part ; yes we are full aware that the styles are now outdated and we wanted to add new styles but we got some issues which couldn't be predicted so the work we started to make on the new styles has been postponed and we want to restart that project as soon as possible with our new designer.
In the mean time, we had more and more template integration but for sure, it is not an excuse.
So ; that's for the off topic part !

I do not see any new style added in the list hikashop.com/download/styles-for-hikashop.html
All the listed styles are the same ones since 2013.
There is no up-to-date design in that list

Maybe you do not like the topic title but I would apology and be very pleased to quickly modify it if I am wrong...

Hi,

We had improved the styles 1 year and a half ago.
So improvements had been done at that point back then.

But we've actually started recently a complete overhaul of the CSS of HikaShop (for HikaShop 3.0 which should normally be the next version of HikaShop), and along with that, the styles will also be completely reworked (at least that's the plan). And following that, we hope to be able to release new styles in the future too.

The thing is not really that styles are a good or bad investment. It's more link they serve a small be useful purpose which can be a great help for some people. But it is true that it is a lot less useful to purchase styles for HikaShop now that you can find many Joomla templates optimized for HikaShop. That's also why we slowed down further development on them.
We actually don't recommend styles anymore and prefer people to use HikaShop optimized templates if they don't have the CSS knowledge necessary to customize the display to their template. We still leave them there as some people need them.
So the thing is that maybe they are not adapted to what you need but as you know, it's hard to please everyone when you do something. We're just trying to do our best with the resources we have.

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you very much for your post, it is informational, courteous and well explained like always.

Unfortunately I have to disagree 100% with your opinion about Hika Styles and optimized templates.
The Styles are a must have, not in their actual form as they are more related, if you allow me, to Joomla 1.5...

I agree there are more and more templates styled/optimized for Hikashop...
Because I bought one you can trust me 100% about my comments below.
Unfortunately these optimized templates are not styled for Hikamarket and even worse they have poor, little or no styling at all even breaking the original (nice) layout of other installed Joomla components.
In other words they are simply useless if you do not want to spend days or weeks to custom style the layout of these other components...so where the advantage of buy such templates?

Because of this the "Hika Styles" have a significant importance !
I would a thousand times prefer to buy styles than templates...
Talking about styles I am NOT referring to colors but to nice effects on products divs, list, etc...
Also a correct display respecting the browser window size, I am referring to this now old thread : Affichage Div sur tablettes

Styles can please everybody, templates will only satisfy a few!
If fancy and "up-to-date effects" are included I guess you will sell much more "styles" than templates.

since my little knowledge about CSS, I bought styles.

They are ok, but they might be very confusing some times. I've had to work a lot to make my shop look something similar to the photo of the style I'm using, and altough now it's almost similar, still some things are difficult to make them work.

I'd like to see an improvement on styles, and see if they could be more accurate now that hikashop 3 is comming.

@pprle
Well, the window size responsiveness or effects on the listings like you can see on the demo website are not something for the styles to handle. That's the job of HikaShop itself. With HikaShop 3.0 we plan on having HikaShop responsive by default, without the need for the template to be bootstrap compatible. That will be a big step in the right direction. And for effects on the listings, it's just a matter of creating new item box layouts in HikaShop. We have that on our todo list, but as a more long term thing.
The purpose of the styles is really to change the colors/icons of the elements so that it adapts with the template.

@vanway
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, they are getting old and an overhaul on them will be done once HikaShop 3.0 will be out.
