Hello HikaShop Family,

I have a problem that will take me forever to create products everytime I have new items added and was wondering if there is a quicker way to bulk/mass load variants. I have shirts for sale that will be available in 10 different sizes and multiple colors which means I have to manually create new variants each time. Just one new shirt could take me 30 minutes to fully load variants. Is there a easy sql statement or copy functions somehow I could use to quickly add new variants. So right now I have a black shirt that contains 10 variants for the 10 different sizes. I have 5 other colors the shirt is available in meaning i'd have to create 50 variants for this one shirt.

Thanks N Advance

Hi,

You can use the CSV Import to import new products ; it can also import variants in the same time.
You can use a mass action and the CSV import to do something similar.

Otherwise, when you create a product and you want to generate your variants ; you can select several values in the "nameboxes" (select your 10 sizes and 5 colors) ; HikaShop will create all different possibilities.
You can alos use the "duplicate" button to copy a variant by changing one characteristic (you have to check variants in the list to unlock the "duplicate" button ; and you can also select several values in the namebox).

Thanks so much for response, is there a import csv template file that we can use so I know which columns to add or how values should be formatted? I actually was able to figure out the duplication method which works very better but the import would totally be faster of course

Thanks!

Hi,

The easier way to get an import CSV template is to perform an export.

Does hikashop have export option someplace or do you have to use sql/phpadmin backup to csv file format?

Hi,

If you want to backup your website, you want to use something like Akeeba Backup.
The CSV export of products/orders will only export these so you won't get a complete image of your HikaShop data and settings.
But yes, you can use the mass action system in order to export CSV files periodically and automatically if that's what you want:
