-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.8

I have a template which uses bootstrap 3 and the responsive option is enabled in the template.

When I choose a 3 column layout for hikashop it only shows 1 column in the frontend. When I disable the Use bootstrap design in the General display options it shows 3 columns at the frontend but the mobile version is not good to look at. What to do?

regards
Arjan

Hi,

The "bootstrap design" is working.
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...html#display_general

Use bootstrap design: That option is turned off by default. When turn on, the views of HikaShop on the frontend will be responsive and use the bootstrap library for their styling. It requires that your Joomla template supports bootstrap 2. On Joomla 3.0, most templates should. However, if you have display issues on your frontend (like for example the number of columns of your listings which is always 1 no matter what you enter in the "number of columns" option of your menus/modules), it means that your template does not support bootstrap and that you should turn off that option. In such cases, you can potentially install a bootstrap compatibility joomla plugin in order to add the boostrap support on your frontend. Finally, note that some templates might only partially support bootstrap (only the CSS and not the JS, or only some pieces of the CSS) like we found out with at least some YooTheme templates. In that case, we would recommend to contact your template provider for help so that you get all the pieces of bootstrap in it if you want to have a responsive display for HikaShop interfaces.

I let you perform some searchs about HikaShop and Bootstrap 3 if you want more details.

The template supports bootstrap 3 as i mentioned but I only get 1 column whatever I do when bootstrap is enbled in Hikashop. When I turn off the bootstrap option in Hikashop I get a 3 column layout which is responsive but on a small screen it should automatically change to a 1 column layout, shouldn't it? Because a 3 column layout does not look good on a small screen as you can see on the site.

Hi,

As Jerome said, if your template is not compatible with Bootstrap 2, so you have to disable the bootstrap option in HikaShop, but indeed on small screen it will not move the listings into one column.

So in your case, as the template is based on Bootstrap 3 it is not compatible with the HikaShop bootstrap option.
We are supporting only Bootstrap 2 because it is the way it should be in Joomla 3, this is the default requirement.

But we are planning to have our own responsive system in order to be compatible with any templates.

Hi, thx for the reply.

In my mind when a template uses Bootstrap 3 and an extension uses bootstrap 2 it would still be ok and working but so was not the case obviously  .
I'v had contact with the template designer and he did a good job assisting me and handed to me some extra code which i put into the custom css and now it works fine with a 1 column layout on a small screen and a 3 column layout on a wide screen.
