-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : there is no error!

Hi
I want to get a dropdown field in first page of my website that will help our users to select the state of their physical location. in other word, we separate the city into the different states (north, south, west, east, north-west and ...) and our customer should select one of the states. after that we want to show them all of the products, but we want to add an Icon (or anything like that) to the products that is in their selected state.
for example, if user select the north, he should be able to see all of the products but we should note him that some products are specially for north state and other products are for other states.

is it possible?
if yes, how I can do it?

thanks so much
Reza

Hi,

We have a similar feature in HikaMarket for the "vendor location".
That feature is composed of a module and a plugin.

The module allows the custom to select/enter his location.
The plugin allows to filter the product listing depending on the location.

But in HikaMarket, that "vendor location" is based on the location of the vendor. So it filters the products to only display products of vendors around the selected location (postcode, city).
And the vendor have a custom field to fill where they can enter the list of accepted postcodes and cities.

Hi,

There is not much documentation about it I could provide.
But not that it's not exactly what you want.

I would personnally recommend another solution:
- create an unpublished category for your states
- create one published category for each state inside that category
- in your products add the corresponding state category as a second category
- create one badge for each category via the menu Products>Badges
That way, on your product listings, your customers will be able to see one badge for each product with the corresponding state.
- create a category dropdown filter for the unpublished category so that the customers can select their state if they want to get a listing of the products only for their state.

The problem is if you have several states for one product. That would mean several badges for it and it would display one the first one regardless of what the customer selected in the filter. But it was not mentioned in your messages so maybe that's not needed.

You can read more about badges here:

and filters here:

Hi again,
Thanks for your guide,
I find your way useful, but there is another problem, now I need to have two different "filter module" one on top of website and another on right side. these two modules should show different fields. top module should show "select state drop down" and side module should show "all other filtering fields".
right now when I add a field in filter module, it will add on both of them!
can you please guide me how I can have two different filter module?

thanks so much

Hi,

When you edit your filter modules via the Joomla modules manager, you can use the "Filters" setting of each module to select which filters you want to display in the module.
