-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.0

I would like to move the products tab from the top menu to the side menu, but not under one heading ie just list of categories with products within them. I can work out how to put the category from side to top menu but not the other way around. Any tips would be appreciated. I am hoping this does not need a rebuilt of site.

Many thanks

Hi,

Normally, you have the "categories listing: 1 level" module that you can enable in the Joomla modules manager for that.
It displays by default on the left side of the template a list of categories (like you want I guess).
If you don't have that module, you can always recreate it via the "new module" button of the Joomla modules manager by selecting the type "HikaShop content module".

Thankyou. Don't think I explained properly. We have a list of categories on the side and our products are on a drop down from tab on the top bar. I would like to swap the products to side bar and the categories to drop down on top bar. The latter I can do, buy can't work out how to put the product categories on the side bar. Many thanks

Hi

I have attached a screenshot. Under the products tab at the top is a drop down menu with all the product categories and within each drop down are the products. I would like to move the Product categories to the side menu.

In turn I would like to move the categories on the left menu into 1 tab on the top menu.

Thankyou

Hi,

What I don't understand is that I see the exact same thing under the "products" menu at the top and on the left side: a list of the main categories.
Since they are the same, I don't see what you want to swap ?

Hi

They have the same names but the pages on the left are merely information pages with links to the products, whilst the products tab on the top bar are the actual product categories ie with shopping cart.

I want the products at the side so it will be more obvious/direct for customers and take them directly to the products, rather than looking for the products tab.

Feedback from our customers is that the products pages are not obvious on the top bar.

Thanks

Hi,

So my answer is the answer I gave you on this post:
www.hikashop.com/forum/product-category-...-changes.html#229754
You can use a HikaShop content module to display the main categories on the left side and when you click on them, it will link to the products/sub categories of the categories.

By moving the hika product categories from the top menu to the side menu we can no longer reach the individual products in the category, we simply get a 404 error page not found. We have to individually link the hika category option to the specific product category to fix this. It is not seamless to move the category from one menu to another as the links to the individual products break and we are left with a single link to the top level "ROOT" hika "product_category". What we have to do is to relink all the individual categories in the menu to their respective Hika product categories. Not ideal, so if you can tell us a better way of doing this cleanly I'd appreciate it. This also means that when we've linked the new category menu to the existing product, we can't remove the product tab from the top menu without breaking the links between the new left menu option and the product itself.
Help!

Hi,

I don't see which you would have to "relink" anything.
If you have a 404 error for a product page link, it means that you probably have the "force canonical URLs on listing" setting of the HikaShop configuration activated and that you have an invalid canonical URL for that product.
Turn off that option and you should not get a 404 error.
