page with three seperate category sections

I am trying to display 2 extra "modules" on the main homepage(that will each display category listings) this is in addition to the hikashop display that is already specified via the menu.

But when I go to make a module it says that the settings are non functioning (they should be done by menu settings)

I have looked through lots of posts and documents but they all seem to show different ways of doing things and don;t say what version of hikashop they apply to!

The aim is to divide the homepage into three sections - each showing a separate category - any advice welcomed!
