I have a Business edition.
Sorry but I have to submit a problem that is common for furniture shops…

I have a product, a sofa.

The price depend from 3 factor
• With bed or not
• Places
• Linen category (not linen but his category)

So I made a product with 3 different characteristic as you can see on my website

Price depend by the cross between them….

SO FAR EVERYTHING IS OK…As you can see, it works, I get price depending this 3 factor!

Here is the problem: In reason we have 3 different category of linen and for each category 3-4 different lines of color and for each line of colors 10/20 different colors you can understand that will be impossible to generate so many characteristics (the price depends from Linen Category and not from single color, we have 3 category).

So I thought that the customer can see the color charts by linking an article and can appoint on paper the code he want.
You can see this working in my product page.

Now, he know wich is the color code but he must communicate it to me in the order at hte single item ordered level.... (I must see it in the cart mandatory for each item). I thought about a dropdown list where all colors are listed or maybe for the moment, a free text field where customer can indicate me this color code.

But I don’t understand if is possible to add a mandatory field on the Item order…… Is this possible???? How to do it???

Thank you!!!

Hi,

"item" in your last sentence is the keyword! :)

You could use a custom field of the type "item" to appear on the product page, and have customers specifying the color this way.

Hello Roberto,

I thought about a dropdown list where all colors are listed or maybe for the moment, a free text field where customer can indicate me this color code.

The solution will be to use an "Item" custom field that you can create via "Hikashop->Display->Custom fields" and that will be displayed through your product page.
Also, note that it won't dynamically change your product price. To do it based on the value of the "Item" custom field you'll have to develop a custom plugin.

ok I'm a nerd....
I made a custom field type 'item'.
This field is mandatory....
Is published
and is connected to a specific product
but it doesn't appear...... :S

P.S. item in italians is 'VOCE'

Scusa, but you did not create an "item" field, but instead an "entry". See in the field configuration under "Tabella". So, you want to delete this and create a new field, for which you select the correct equivalent for "item" under "Tabella" = "Table".
(Maybe the translation isn't perfect in this area... in case of doubt switch the admin language to English temporarily?)
