Display sub-categories under menus

I have 5 product categories. Coffee, Hospitality Supplies, Amenities, Wines, Machinery

I have created sub-categories under Hospitality Supplies > 'Tea' and also 'Spices'

When I click on the Main menu: Products > Hospitality Supplies, then the sub categories also display on this page (for example Five Roses and Freshpak).
I only want 'Tea' as a main category to display here.

When I click on Main Categories on the left (which is a module with position sidebar_left), then the Categories display correctly. The sub-directories are not showing.

How can I set the Main menu to only display the main categories?

I see my 'example' has not uploaded. Where else can I upload this so you can see the examples?

Double-check your setting for the option "Sub elements filter" by editing the respective category listing menu item in your main menu -> tab Categories Options -> section Data Display: guess the setting should be "Direct sub elements" to avoid all sub elements listed.
