-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.3
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.6
-- PHP version -- : 5.5
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Goolge Chrome

I have looked through the forum for help with this but I have not found what I am looking for. :( :(

I am trying to add a Shop description at the beginning of my shop page on my site.
I can do this sort of thing in Joomla using Blog layout and having a lead article or by showing the contents of the Category page.

However I can not see how to do this is Hikashop. I would like to put a paragraph of text at the top of my shop page describing the purpose of the shop i.e.

The items below are available to purchase to aid in the sustainability etc etc

I have looked at the Hikashop DEMO site and it seems that this can be done...

Can any one help?

Thanks in advance :) :)

I can't see how the demo site is setup but would assume the demo's home page is just a Joomla content article, not really anything to do with Hikashop.

You can create an article in Joomla as administrator using the menu option Content / Articles, then select "New".
Add the content you want displayed on your home page, make it a featured article (makes it easier to find subsequently).
To your "Home" menu option, set the type to "Single Article" and select the newly created article.

Hi,

Yes. Edit the category that you've selected in the "main category" setting of your menu item and enter your text in the description of that category. Then, make sure that the "show description" setting of your menu item is activated and that's it.

Thanks for the fast reply's but either I am not understanding everyone  or I did not explain my problem correctly. :( So I have made a mock up image of what I am trying to do...

I am trying to produce something like you see in the image below. When the user has clicked on the link they will be taken to a single page which has the introductory text similar to what you see in the mock-up and then below the text you will see the various items I will be selling on the site.

I know how to start a blog category in Joomla with a 'lead' article and or how to show the contents of the Category description in Joomla however I am not clear on how to do the same thing in Hikashop

Hopefully I have been clearer this time. Unless of course I have misunderstood the replies already posted?

You were clear enough. I responded with one approach based on what I saw on the demo site you referenced.
Assuming you have a menu item that displays Hikashop content (categories listing), editing the category description as described by Nicolas is easier and perfectly described.

Perhaps a picture will help your understanding - see below.

To display the Hikashop category description:
Edit your menu item that displays the Hikashop categories.
On the tab "Categories Option" there's a section called "Data Display".
There's an option "Show Description", set that to "Yes".
Beneath that is where you select the root category to browse.
Edit the Hikashop root category to include the description to be displayed.

Many thanks for clarifying :) :) :) :)
I did think it might be a case of my not understanding the replies. I will go ahead and try to set up the page following the instructions you have given me.
I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks again! :) :) :) :)

Hello csymmonds,

Your picture has helped a great deal and I think I am looking in the correct area to make the changes you have suggested, however the screen I am looking is not exactly the same as yours, am I on the right page?

You have shown me where to enter the text for the category description however I do not see the option 'Main Category'

Am I in the right place and where should I enter the details that I want displayed at the top of the page?

Thanks for the excellent support! :)

Thanks for your help,

Keith

You are almost there. In the top screen shot where you have set the "Associated Category" to "Product Category", find that category in Hikashop under the menu Products / Categories.

Click on that item's parent (probably "Root").

Then in the display on the right, click the pencil icon (not the name itself) and enter the description you want to have displayed.
The captures below is from Hikashop with sample data, should be sufficiently illustrative.
