download variation of a product

I'm setting up a shop, and run into this problem:

The shop sells software only, as downloadable products. Each product has several variations: web, android, apple.
Creating the variations is no problem, but how do I get the client to download only one variant? He selects -say- android, he should only be able to download the android version, not the others.

i can solve it by creating 3 separate products, but that would triple the size of the store, and is quite inconvenient to manage.

The solution will be to directly edit variants of your product configuration page and set different files according to the variant.
