Hi
I am trying to configure a product that has several sets of variants. Each variant of the product has a product description, separate product number (code), mechanical version, description and price. I have shown this in my attached image and I have managed to get that to look correct, however, when I am in the category mode I see the product with a price but I want to click for options not offer a price and add to cart.

On the product listing with the table I would also like to lose the "FREE" statement but when I set the cost to £0 I get Free displayed
Please see attached images which I hope help
I Have spent ages going round and round in circles on the forums and the documentation but I can' t find what is going wrong. This is on my local MAMP server so I cant give a live link yet.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

I don't understand what is the problem.

If you have set prices in your variants, then these prices will be used on the product page automatically and you won't see the "free" text there.
If you don't set prices in your variants, then the system will use the price of the main product on the product page.

On the listing, it's the opposite, the system use the main product price in priority, and if no price is set in the main product, then the prices of the variants are used.

Thanks for the quick response, If you look at this picture picture which is the category mode you will see that the product is shown, with a price, and not showing "click for options" when I click on the image I go to the variants, if I click on add to cart it goes to cart but I do not want to go to cart or show this price, I want to go straight to the table of variants in the product set.
when I am in the category mode I see the product with a price but I want to click for options not offer a price at this level and add to cart.

I have seen the videos, the first product is configured.
Variants are added. A table is produced from the variants
The price on the first product is then shown as a "click for options, I cannot achieve this.

Sorry if I am not clear. But I hope this helps.
Regards

Hi,

I've never seen a listing of products made with HikaShop where products with variants would have an "add to cart" button instead of a "choose options".
So I don't see how that's possible.
Please try with the default template of Joomla and see if you have the problem there too. If you do, then please provide screenshots of the settings of your product and one or two of its variants. Also, make sure that the listing is done by HikaShop and not a third party module in which case the problem might be with that module. If you don't, then it means that the problem comes from a view override on your template. In that case, if you rename the folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/hikashop/product/ via FTP it would deactivate the product view overrides and it should then work like with the default template.

I tried with the default template of Joomla and have the problem there too.
I will provide screenshots of the settings for product and one or two of its variants shortly.
Also, make sure that the listing is done by HikaShop and not a third party module in which case the problem might be with that module? sorry not sure what you would like me to do?

I tried to rename the folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/hikashop/product/ within my sites folder but it is not there, the ony files for Hika are
templates/rasa2/html/less/hika.less
and
templates/rasa2/html/less/hika (this is a folder)
I tried renaming these but no change, I cleared cache, no change.
The Template is RASA2 from Joomlabamboo which I think was designed to work with Hikashop.
Thanks

Hi,

Regarding the check on whether you're using a HikaShop module or not, go in the Joomla modules manager and check if the area where you see the products listing comes from a module of the type HikaShop content module. If yes, it's a HikaShop module, if not, it's another module. And if the listing is not displayed by a module at all but by a menu item, then the problem is not with modules.

The screenshots look fine. Could you put the website online so that we could have a look at the issue ?

Hi,

I see what you're talking about but it's not a bug, it's normal that you see that.
You've configured the HikaShop configuration to have an "add to cart" button global to the products listing.
So at the bottom of your products listings, you get an add to cart button:
take.ms/AnUjQ
That way, you enter a quantity for the products you want to purchase on the listings and then click on that main add to cart button.
But for that product, the quantity field doesn't appear since you can only purchase it on the product page as it contains variants.
And you don't have any other products on the listing.
But the add to cart button is a global element of the listing regardless how the products are configured.
So if you click on that button on the listing of your screenshot, it won't add anything to the cart as there are no products that can be purchased from the listing on your website.

For a better understanding, I would rather recommend that you leave the "Display the quantity field on the product page0" setting to "ajax input" in the HikaShop configuration.

Thanks for the response, I have adjusted the settings which has helped towards a solution.
I still have a couple of other questions here.
On the first page (not the listings page) the cart has now gone but the price is still shown, can this be removed and just a "click for options" button be left? I am sure I have seen this on other sites. The price on the first page is missleading as it needs to be an item from the table listing.
Secondly when you click through to the page with the products listing the product image has a "FREE" text block; the product price has been set at "0" value, is it possible to change this or remove it.
Thanks for your help

Hi,

1. Edit your menu item via the Joomla menu manager. There, under the "products options" tab, you'll find several settings to configure how the price should display.
If you have the "Display the quantity field on the product page" setting set to "ajax input" as I explained, and that you have the add to cart button display option activated in your menu item, you'll see either an "add to cart" button when the product doesn't have variants, or a "choose options" button when it does. So that is automatic.

2. If you want to change the text "free" to something else, you can use a translation overrride:

Thanks I have managed to sort those issues out now, you can see from the left hand category accordion menu on the left that the little toggle arrows are cashing into the category text, I have done a search and tried to modify this in the configuration > Css but I can't find the correct part to modify also the size is small for the top level, small than the sub-categories. so if you can point me in the correct direction this would help.

Please note that the Categories with no subcategories look correct, the problem only occurs when a sub-category is added.
Thanks and sorry for requesting so much help.

Hi OK I managed to changed font sizes, moved the padding out where the toggle hits the text. BUT now below the categories that have no sub categories have 2x toggle arrows, side by side? how do I lose the second one? I can load up the css in a zip file if required, I believe you have the login sent off line.
Thanks

Hi,

I still see only one arrow in your module:
take.ms/tMHN9
And if you remove the code:

.panel h3.pane-toggler > a:nth-child(1), .panel h3.pane-toggler-down > a:nth-child(1) {
    padding: 0px !important;
    margin: 0px !important;
}
from /media/com_hikashop/css/frontend_default.css
it should display normally on your website.
