-- url of the page with the problem -- : www.tiendamat.com
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.4
-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.4

Hello,

I just updated Joomla to the newest 3.6.4 version, and now nothing works. If you choose through the menu a category, the link makes you go to ?option=com_hikashop&view=category&layout=listing&I ... , instead of the cannonical URL, but worst of all, if you click on a product, it shows the correct URL, but you go to the main page instead of the product page.

I have a site backup on www.mgestilisme.com with joomla 3.6.3 where you can see that none of these problems ocurs.

Any idea?

Thank you very much for your help

Hi,

The menu where you have the categories with the non SEFed links is not a HikaShop module.
It's a third party module, probably the skyline module for HikaShop.
If you use instead a HikaShop content module like the default "categories on 2 levels" module, I suppose it should work properly. Can you confirm ?
The problem might actually well be with that third party module, in which case you'll have to check with the developers of that module.

Hi Nicolas,

even if it's a problema of the module on the categories, clicking on product should send you to a product page, since it's not clicking from the menu, but from the product div listing, and it doesn't work.

I'll try changing the menu and come back to you.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Regarding the links on the listing of products, I can't say why it would do that. I guess it's linked to the SEF.
Do you have canonical URLs in the products ? In the categories ? How are they configured ?
How is configured the menu item with the id 177 ?
Do you use a third party SEF extension ?

Hi Nicolas. I do have the canonical URLS is the products. The only thing I changed was in the global configuration, I changed the "Search Engine Friendly URLs" to NO to avoid joomla to keep doing duplicated pages. Might be that?

Edit: Changed that to YES and now everything works fine again... I guess I'll have to chose between duplicated URLs or site working...

Hi,

If you deactivate "Search Engine Friendly URLs", you will get duplicated URLs too, but you won't have SEF URLs which will be bad for SEO too.
So you should really keep that setting on.
If you have duplicate URLs, it's not a problem for SEO if you fill in canonical URLs in your products.
If you don't want different URLs for your products for aesthetics, then you can turn on the "force canonical URLs on listings" setting so that HikaShop will always use the canonical URLs in the listings of the products.

Hi Nicolas,

Duplicate URLs it's penalized by google. In fact, is one of the worst things you can have to be punished in your google rank. I've fixed it by adding some Disallow on the robots.txt, so google doesn't index any URL with "hika" or "?" in it.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

As I said, duplicated URLs are only penalized by Google if you don't fill the canonical URL of your products.
If you don't believe me, you can read experts talking about it. They say the same thing:
