difference fot the option in Force canonical URLs on listings

-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.4

Hello
Can I know the difference bettween:
"Use canonical URL and generate it if missing" and " use canonical URL if specified" in Force canonical URLs on listings
I read the documentation but I dont understand what is better to use for the SEO

Hi,

For SEO the first option is better because it will generate "canonical URL" if you do not provide it in the configuration.

When you say "if you do not provide it in the configuration." You refer to the field Canonical Url in product right?
