Custom field not shown in orders and emails

I created a custom field to select a color for a product. This shows nicely in the frontend and the customers can select it. However, in the backend, the field is not shown in the order, see screenprint.

In the custom field configuration, I left all fields to the default of Yes, including Backend order details, see attachment.

I am not read to upgrade to version 3, so I would like to install the most recent 2.6.4 installation. I don't see any links to older versions of the software, or am I incorrect?
