Regenerating category pages (SOLVED)

Hi,
I rebuilt my categories after I found that two had the same name. Unfortunately the top level categories (i.e. parents) still link to the old ones. How can I fix this. So,

I have a Parent Category called 'Lip care'
'Lip care' was also listed as a category under 'Skin care and Medication'

I changed the first one to 'Lip care items'
I changed the second one to 'Lip care - Skin care and Medication'

The new category pages exist but the top level page doesn't link to them. Do I need to do more than select the categories and rebuild?

solution: manually updated the canonical URL in the category to the new address
