Tax Exempt Sales in US

We are in the US and have a number of customers that are tax exempt and pay not taxes. How do we not charge tax for these customers?

You could for example move them to a specific user group and configure your tax rules in the menu System>Taxes to be restricted to all the user groups expect this one. That way, taxes wouldn't apply to the users of that user group.
