From what I can tell, everything is configured properly. HS is not charging taxes as it could for California addresses.

Hello,

Because it was your very first post in the forum your message needed to be approved by a moderator and extra information are lost in the process.
So, would it be possible to have details about your HikaShop version number and more details about your issue ?

Regards,

Hi,

Can you provide a screenshot of a product settings and a screenshot of the System>Taxes menu ?

Also, did you review that FAQ ?
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/3...ion-listing.html#faq
It lists all the different reasons why the taxes wouldn't apply.

Hi,

It looks like you have an invalid "customer type" selected in your tax rule as normally, the text "customer type" should not appear on the listing when no restriction on the customer type is selected in the tax rule.
So please check that.
Also, you've selected the California zone for the tax so it will only appear if the address of the customer has that california zone selected in the "address_state" custom field. Check that you don't have several zones named california in the menu System>Zones as it could happen that you might use another one between the address and the tax rule. And check that the address of your test user has that zone porperly selected.

Besides that, your screeenshots look fine.

I have "All Customer Types" selected for the tax rule. There is only one California zone. I am entering shipping information inside the zone. So, basically, you're saying everything is configured correctly, but isn't working.
I went through it all again, thinking maybe I missed something. Still not working. I'm baffled. Any ideas? Known conflicts or anything? What other information can I give to help?

Okay, I selected Individual as customer type for the tax, and it's charging the correct rate. Strange that All Customer Types didn't work.

One last thing: it shows tax before the customer enters a shipping address. Any way to make it calculate AFTER they enter their address? I know that will be my client's next question...

Thanks for your efforts on this.

Hi,

This depends on the "main tax zone" setting of the HikaShop configuration.
Set that tax zone to something else than California so that anonymous users are not categorized as customers from California.
