PayPal charged for renewal, but subscription expires in HikaSerial

Hi,

we use HikaSerial to sell annual memberships, using PayPal Recurring Payments plugin that comes with HikaSerial.

We have a situation with one customer who was charged a membership renewal on PayPal, but that payment was never recorded in HikaShop and their membership expired.

Questions:

1. Are there any logs either on PayPal or in HikaSerial so we can check what happened?
2. How does HikaSerial receive payment notifications from PayPal? I couldn't see any webhook configuration options in the PayPal Recurring Payments plugin, so I'm just curious about how the process works in general.

Hello,

Do you authorize the renewal of the subscription at least 1 day before the expiration ?

We realized that the Paypal recurring plugin does not override that setting and can create a unwanted side effect.

Hello,

You should at least authorize 1 day before the expiration.
Otherwise, if the Paypal notification is sent before the renewal, HikaSerial won't be able to perform the extension.
That's something we want to improve in a future release.
