-- Joomla version -- : 3.0

HI there,

I am a little confused as to how the content modules work. I did read through the Doc but cant seem to understand it properly.

I am trying to get different modules to display on different pages but use related products feature. For instance I want a content module to use a set of products that use a different title for the module and a little different options.

And for other products I want to use other options.

How do I set this up to do this? Sorry, I have tried to read but I honestly cant work it out.

Thanks.

Hi,

Main tutorial for content modules: www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...splay-front-end.html
Content modules documentation: www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...op-modules-form.html

Content modules in HikaShop are in fact a "HikaShop content module" in Joomla but where the advanced configuration for the module is in the HikaShop part of backend.
So the "title" or some other generic configuration for the module is still available in the Joomla module manager.

If you want to create a new module, you can create it in HikaShop backend (it will automatically create the module in Joomla too).
After that, I have to admit that, without more details about what you understood or what you want to know/achieve, it will be difficult to tell you more.

Thanks for the reply Jerome.

I had already read over those pages yesterday and it didnt help me. The problem I have with Hikashop sometimes is that labels are not always self explanatory :(.

In answer to your question so that you might be able to help me further, what I am trying to do is this:

1. In some phone cases I want to be able to list alternative sizes or styles as "Alternative Sizes" (I know I can do this with 'options' but I dont want to do it that way. So that content module would be named 'Alternative Sizes". This would use the related products type of content, so my products would be linked to other products.

2. Then I have other products like keyboards that I want to have as "Related products" or "Products you may also like" which have the same template but I want them to use a different module which also uses related products, but the title and content module is a different one altogether.

I cant seem to work out how to do this as I do not have menu links for products, only categories.

Thanks.

Hi,

1. One easy solution is to duplicate the configuration of the module "Related products" that we have in our demo website.
demo.hikashop.com/administrator/index.ph...les&task=edit&cid=98

Then you can configure the module to be displayed "under the product page" ; in the HikaShop configuration.
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...ig.html#main_product
If the product have some related products, the module will be displayed.

2. As you will see in the module configuration for the setting "Content on product page" ; you can display the "related products" but you can also display some products in the same category.

Now if you want to combine the two solutions ; the best will be to use a plugin like "advanced module manager".
So you can have several "related products" modules, with different titles and create specific rules in order to define if the module will be displayed or not ; it can be depending the url or using specific rules with the HikaShop integration

Thanks for the reply.

Advanced Module Mgr wont work because I have no menu items for those products as they run through product listing category pages.

So are you saying I can setup the Normal Related products module to only display in phone cases (or it will be all 'Protection' category and then the "You may also like" category for the other categories? I tried playing with the 'Associated categories' in the content module but still seemed to of displayed the Related one and not the other one I created.

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't understand your message because Advanced module manager is made to work without "menu id" but to use other elements in the url or else.
So, it is the good solution if the menu id is the same between the product listing and product pages.
