Hi,

You can use the filters system of HikaShop:

Do you have anything more definitive regarding the Filter (Search) module use, other than the document you referenced.

The document really doesn't provide any guidance on "how" to do things, but rather is very complicated and difficult to understand.

Please advise as to a "method" of creating a fundamental search module and how to place it on pages in desired locations.

Hi,

We don't have documentation specific on that.
But it can be done in a few simple steps:
- create a new filter of the type "text" applied on the data "product_name" via the menu Display>Filters
- create a new module instance of the type "HikaShop filter module" via the Joomla modules manager and select that filter in the settings of the module.
- Finally, enable the module in the position you want in your template, and in its "menu" setting set the id of a HikaShop products listing menu item configured to display all your products.
Then, when you use the input box of the module, the system will display the listing of your products of that menu item with the filter in the product_name based on what you entered in the input box, like a search module would.

When adding the Menu Link Item ID number, can you enter multiples or is there a link required for "Product Category" to allow the filter to search all products? Also, can that link item be "published" in a "hidden menu" to work. We do not have an "all products" link item in our menu.

Hi,

No, you need to enter one menu item id only.
You should enter the id of a menu item of the type HikaShop products listing configured to display all your products if you want the search to be done on all the products.
And yes, you can have it as a hidden menu.

FOR: omys

Did you ever find a source for the search module you showed in your initial posting?

We are interested in applying something like that to our shop configuration.

Contact me if convenient.

Thanks for the assistance with the filter module.

We set the menu ID to a menu link item that displays all products.

The search filter appears to be working properly.

We are working on some of the features of the search to get a better grasp of the settings.

We elected to use a third-party search system rather than the Hikashop filter.

We used "Universal AJAX Live Search" which allows us to put different looking search modules at different locations on the screen.

It has some good features and is working perfectly with Hikashop.

Can be configured to search all of the relevent areas of a product and return a list that links to the product itself.

See it at the top left of shop.justducks.co.uk
