Looking to implement pay to access (NO downloads ) videos.

  • 10 Videos + PDF Recipe for each video
  • Each video to be purchased individually
  • Video's to be streamed via Vimeo Private - No ability to download

Looked at J! groups but 10 groups will be an animal to deal with and manage.
Been there in the past and not a path I'd go down again

Looking to understand if there are any options post purchase to restrict access using Hikashop.

I'm mindful that we are selling physical products as well as the video access

Hello,

We aren't sure of it but there is a good chance that the feature can help you accomplish your need, learn more here .

Clearly you will be able to frame your links to your private videos with tags which will take the necessary parameters to be able to see these last links, if you have purchased as in the example shown in our blog article.
Regards

Think that may be a solution ;)
All your new additions are great work.

Am I correct in assuming those people will be registered users in J!?
Does each Video require a separate registered group?

Note I've not tested that yet so questions may be irrelevant :silly:

Hi,

You don't need separate user groups.
As the example Philip provided shows, you directly provide the id of the product in the tag.
So as long as the system can link the current user with a confirmed order with the product with that id together, it will work.
So that also means that people do need to be registered users in Joomla. Otherwise, it won't be possible to link a guest user to an order.

Ok so this has been a while and is working an absolute treat :woohoo:

BUT - there is always a but ;)

I'm probably pushing the boundaries here but figured it's worth a try.

Example of what the public sees if they have the URL shared or randomly discover it, goes something like

"It appears you have accessed this page with content that isn't public
To find out more about what you are missing then check this page out
"

The content that has been purchased then appears as it should using
{hkshow bought="14"}content{/hkshow}

Can that be done in reverse?

So this bit disappears when registered users are logged in and access the page?
"It appears you have accessed this page with content that isn't public
To find out more about what you are missing then check this page out
"

I could use a default registered alert but looking to customize it just for that specific page which provides links to the content about what they haven't paid for

Thanks in advance
