-- HikaShop version -- : 3.0.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.5

Hi,
I was expecting Hikashop 3 hoping it was able to manage translations without have to install Falang or Joomfish (which is no longer developetd as far as I can read here: www.thinknetwork.com/joomfish ), using Joomla's native language support or Hikashop own language system.

Today I've downloaded and tested new PRO version 3.0.0 but, even if it has many new features, it still does'n manage translations (am I wrong?).

Is there any chance to have this feature implemented in the future?

Thank you very much
Kind Regards

Hi,

The "Joomla native language" way is the duplication of the content.
Instead of having one article ; you have two articles for two languages and their are linked in order to switch from one language to another.
But it means that they do not share some information, like the number of hits.

Implementing a multi-linguale system in HikaShop without creating several products for each language would mean to have a main product and externalize some part of the product details in another table of the database.
The direct implication would be the performances ; because it will require to perform new "join" in the SQL queries to catch the language elements.

www.hikashop.com/forum/install-update/88...joomfish.html#240484

Now if we just take a look at all the code which is loading the products ; they will be a huge number of SQL queries to modify in order to support a multilingual system ; that's several months of work, just for the core part.

Is that something we want to add in HikaShop ?
- Yes, it could be cool.
Is that something we can add in HikaShop in a short period ?
- No, I don't think so.

For HikaShop 3.0 and the refactoring of the cart + checkout system, was already a huge amount of work ; around one year and a half of development.
I wish that we could do more but unfortunately properly developing something takes time and we have to make choices as we can't do everything.

Hi, thank you for your kind reply.
As a suggestion, waiting for a shining future when Hikashop will have its own language management engine, you could try to sign an agreement with Faboba to:
a) have a (huge) discount to buy Falang Pro for Hikashop's customers
b) make a free version of Falang without backlink, downloadable by Hikashop's customers

But, as I said, it's just a suggestion :-)

Thank you very much!
Kind regards

Hi,

I'm afraid your ideas A and B are (highly) not possible.
