-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : UNDEFINED

Good morning Nicolas.
Many times I encounter an issue (I believe it usually happens after making some changes in the description or on the product page, although this is more of an assumption than a certainty): randomly, in the custom field of some feature, the word UNDEFINED appears, completely removing the original text that I had entered and that should normally be displayed.
I’m attaching two screenshots so you can see the original and the one showing the error.
Would you know why this happens or how to avoid it?

Hi,

Could it be that you have a mass action which has this custom field configured somewhere ?
How is your custom field configured ? Could you provide a screenshot of its settings ?
Could it be that you're using a "WYSIWYG" type custom field ? Maybe the editor you're using was not able to load on the page and thus, when you saved, it couldn't provide the text and thus it returned "undefined" ? Try to switch to a textarea type custom field to see if you still have the issue. If you don't get the issue anymore, maybe switch to another editor, or event stick to the textarea type ?

Nicolas, by default I have the same configuration in all the custom fields. I’m sending you screenshots of one of the items that were affected, in case it helps. Please note that there is no bulk action configured for the custom fields.
If you need anything else, just let me know.
I look forward to your reply.
Best regards

Hi,

Well, try to change the type of the field to "textarea" as I said. Then, continue using the website normally and see if you still have the problem or not.
If not, then what I described in my previous message is what is happening.
If you still have the problem, then the problem is not with the editor but with something else, like a mass action. But it could also be a plugin.

Hello.
Can you tell me how to change the type of the field to "textarea".
I don’t know how or where to do it. Can it be done from a point where the changes apply to all custom fields, or do I have to do it one by one?

Hello Nicolas, I think we are not talking about the same thing.
By custom fields, I’m not referring to HikaShop > Display > Custom Fields.
I mean that within the product page, in each characteristic, HikaShop allows you to include either a description or custom fields. It’s here, in the custom fields, where I specify promotions, dimensions, and additional information for each of the characteristics.
I’m not sure if I’m explaining myself clearly…

Hi,

Go in the menu Display>Custom fields, edit that custom field, and change its "type" setting to "text area". Then, when you edit your products and variants, you'll have a simple text area, instead of the text editor for that custom field. That way, it will prevent issues with the editor not loading properly for that custom field when you edit a product or variant.

Hi,

I do understand what you're saying.
Again:
Go in the menu Display>Custom fields, edit the "promotions" custom field, and change its "type" setting to "text area". Then, when you edit your products and variants, you'll have a simple text area, instead of the text editor for that custom field. That way, it will prevent issues with the editor not loading properly for that custom field when you edit a product or variant and thus you should not loose the text for the variants / products in that custom field.

Hello Nicolas. There is no custom field called promotions. I’m just making use of the item configuration to provide additional information about each product variant.

Hi,

Ok. Then, what are these screenshots about in this message of yours: www.hikashop.com/forum/install-update/90...ndefined.html#368405 ?
The screenshots indicate that you have the promotion text in an HTML editor in the "CAMPOS PERSONALIZADOS" area which is where the custom fields of the table "product" appear when you're editing a product or a variant.

Either:
- these are not real screenshots or not the screenshots you wanted to provide
- or you do have a custom product field where you specify your promotion text in each product or variant.
- or something else which I'm not aware of, and which prevents me from understanding the situation on your website properly.

Could you please clarify the situation ?

Nicolas, that section is within the configuration of all HikaShop products.
From the options you gave me, this is the one that most closely resembles (as I understand it) what I’m referring to.
"- or you do have a custom product field where you specify your promotion text in each product or variant"
If you need, I can give you access so that you can see in a specific product what I’m referring to…"

Hi,

So, I checked your backend and you do have a custom product field where you enter your promotion text. It is called "especificasiones".
Change its type to "text area" instead of WYSIWYG and see if that helps avoid the problem.

Also, another solution you can try is to click on the "Deactivate form customization" button in the green area at the bottom of the product edit form page. This can help when you have issues with text editors.

Nicolas, I have changed the specifications to 'text area'. I see that I now have to use HTML code, but it doesn’t allow me to preview it.
Is there a way to enable the preview?

Hi,

The goal of this change is not to force you to enter HTML code when filling this custom field.
The goal is to see if you still have the problem or not with that "undefined".
If you don't have the problem anymore, it means that the problem is indeed linked to the editor.
You can then revert to the WISYWYG type.

Then, you can try my second proposition of clicking on the "Deactivate form customization" button in the green area at the bottom of the product edit form page as it can help when you have issues with text editors.
