-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.1

Hi!

I am dealing with a request to build a classified ads website for cars and am looking at various options. Obviously since I am asking I haven't found anything exciting yet, and considering my ups and downs with my current adventure with Hikashop I am wondering if this is "easily" doable or requires a lot of customization (such as an advanced search module with slick selectors and an extensive specification list, just to name 2 of them).

What is your experience in that domain, do you have any site to point to so I could see how it has been implemented or just some "warnings"?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I've seen already several websites done with HikaShop in that domain.
A specification list can be done with custom fields of the table "product" via the menu Display>Custom fields.
And an advanced search module (base don such custom fields and other product information) can be done with filters:

So, at least for what you wrote in your message, it doesn't seem to be a problem.
I suppose that you'll want to use HikaMarket so that people can add their products themselves on your website (but maybe not ?):

Thanks a lot. Yes I would definitely need Hikamarket. I was more concerned about specifications and filtering/advanced search.

Is there any connector to work with product specification providers so that when people "upload" their cars they could pick from already available products?
Thank you.

Hi!

Subsidiary question about the multi-vendor features:
- do vendors have a "shop page" listing all their products and is this page URL something like domain.com/vendorname/
- If so, what is the selection process for the /vendorname/
- Is it possible to have it that way also: vendorname.domain.com ?

Thank you.

And while I'm at it, I took a look at your template packs and was wondering if you had any template to recommend that would match the "hikacar" pack (the clear background one).
Thank you again.

Hi,

Using a "vendor listing" menu, you can have something similar yes.
The vendor "alias" is used in the URL generation (like the product alias is used for the product's URL generation).

- Is it possible to have it that way also: vendorname.domain.com ?

It is possible but it requires a third party component or some custom development.
Joomla components like "JMS" (Joomla Multi Sites) allow you to create several websites using one Joomla instance and with the integration between JMS and HikaShop/HikaMarket ; you can create vendor stores per subdomain.

And while I'm at it, I took a look at your template packs and was wondering if you had any template to recommend that would match the "hikacar" pack (the clear background one).

We do not provide templates but we have a page which list templates made for HikaShop.

Hi!
Thank you for the prompt response. You say "you can have something similar". Do you have a sample somewhere? I'd be interested to see a "reseller" shop and its URL.

Thank you.

Ok. This kind of slept my mind and I finally looked at it. What I see on the demo is Joomla! not in its best URL rewriting setup. So we're getting URL such as /hikamarket/vendors-listing/vendor/show/2-vendor1 which are long...very long.
I have a few questions:
1. is vendor1 the name under which he registered or just an identifier in the DB?
2. with better URL rewriting could we shorten that URL and make it more "vendor friendly"? Something like maybe just /vendor-listing/vendor1 ?

Thank you.

Hi,

Because the demo website have lot of different pages, we organized them into section and we set names which are long (right) but understandable as much as possible.

1 - It is the vendor alias ; which is generated dynamically from the vendor name if the alias is empty. (as it is done in HikaShop for products).

2 - There is a setting in HikaShop to remove the "id" from the SEF url ; that setting is also used in HikaMarket.
