Greetings,

First, I'm not sure how this got posted in the [Install/Update] forum, I meant to post in the [Product/Category] area. Could a Mod please move this.

My Client is an artist and sells "worksheet's". There are a total of 9 items. They are sold individually for $4.95, or you can buy all 9 for #34.95. These two products are set up and working properly. The issue is this:

She sells a "Your Choice" item, which is "You pick and 6 of the 9" for $24.95. How to do this is driving me crazy. Here is what I have done and tried without success. I have set the Characteristic display option to "List" in HikaShop Config.

I created a Characteristics called [Worksheets]. Inside it I created 9 values, 1 for each single worksheet. SCREENSHOT . Next, I created a Product - SCREENSHOT - set a price of $24.95 and the weight/dimensions and chose the [Worksheets] characteristic under the Specifications box. Next, on the Variants Tab I set each variant - SCREENSHOT - then edited each variant to add it's name/photo - SCREENSHOT .

Looking at the product on the front end I get what I'm looking for as shown here - SCREENSHOT and here - SCREENSHOT . My problem is twofold. Adding each variant to the cart, puts it in as $24.95, which is incorrect and the biggest problem is how to restrict the selection to ONLY 6 choices.

I am assuming, that to correct the pricing problem, so that each variant doesn't add $24.95 to the cart, I need to individually price each variant to $4.1583 so that 6 of them would total up to $24.95. If my thinking is correct, then this is an easy fix.

I'm more concerned at how to stop the selection with 6 choices.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may have an idea. I've just begun using HikaShop and am learning the ropes.

Regards,
Bill

,Hi,

I would do it differently:
- create one product priced at $24.95
- create 6 custom fields of the table "product" and of the type "single dropdown" with the 9 choices as values for each custom field and restrict these custom fields to that one product.
That way, on the product page, you'll have 6 dropdowns allowing you to choose among the 9 choices and one add to cart to add the product at $24.95 with the 6 choices of the dropdowns.

Nicholas,

You are briliant, as is this software. I do have an issue, I'm not getting dropdowns on the product page. I followed your instructions to the letter. Is there a setting in the general config that I need to make?

Hi,

Sorry, I made a mistake in my instructions. You should create custom fields of the table "item", not "product".
Then you'll get the dropdowns.

So you'll have to delete the custom fields you created and recreate them with the correct table.

Hi,

Ah yes, I had overlooked that you had the Essential edition. The custom fields of the table item and order are only available with the Business edition.
So you could upgrade to get access to that feature: www.hikashop.com/extensions/upgrade-my-version.html

Alternatively, you can also try doing it with options instead of custom fields, it should work too and it's available in the Essential edition:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...ct-form.html#options
It's less easy to parameter and to tweak so I would recommend the custom fields solution over the options though.
