-- HikaShop version -- : 5.1.6

I would like to start using Google remarketing.
support.google.com/google-ads/answer/730..._tag&zippy=%2Ccustom

Among other things, I also need a feed.
support.google.com/google-ads/answer/605...l=en#zippy=%2Ccustom

What is already available in Hikashop? I looked at HikaShop Google Dynamic Remarketing plugin, Hikashop Google Products Plugin.
How to proceed?

Hi,

1. The events listed on your Google Remarketing events page are simple versions of the Google Analytics events:
developers.google.com/analytics/devguide...rce?client_type=gtag
While there is no plugin implementing the Remarketing events, there is a plugin for Google Analytics imeplementing the GA events:
www.hikashop.com/marketplace/product/108...egration-google.html
And from what I can read here:
support.google.com/analytics/answer/9313634?hl=en
you can configure GA / Remarketing so that the events collected with GA are transferred to Remarketing
So, I would recommend going this route.

2. For the feed, the HikaShop Google Products plugin included in HikaShop will do what you want:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/8...google-products.html
Just configure it via the Joomla plugins manager

2. Google say: Feeds can be created as a .csv, .tsv, .xls, or xlsx file and then uploaded to Google Ads. We have xml.

Hi,

On your link, it says this:

To get started, create your feed offline as a .csv, .tsv, .xls, or xlsx file, then upload it to your account's "Business data" section. If you're a retail business, use the Google Merchant Center to upload your product feed.

If you're using HikaShop, it probably means that you're selling stuff online. So, you must be a "retail business" and not another type of business which doesn't sell stuff. So, what you're pointing out should not apply to you.

On the other end, if you follow the link of the "use the Google Merchant Center to upload your product feed" you get on this page:
support.google.com/merchants/answer/1215...29712-237839881&rd=1
There, you can read this:

What file formats are accepted?
You can use .txt, .xml, or a .tsv. Files can be up to 4 GB in size.

So, you're good with XML.
There, you can also read this:

How do I create a file containing my product data?
The content and format of your product data file are very important and must adhere to our Product data specification. Learn more about creating a product file for Merchant Center.

And this "Product data specification" is precisely what our Google Products plugin follows.

When I try to upload hika xml feed it returns errors. So that file is not ok for that purpose.

I really don't understand how an ecommerce application lacks something as basic or essential as remarketing. I switched to Hikashop from VM precisely because of my focus on efficient sales. Apparently I was wrong. Has any of the Hikashop users managed to set up Google remarketing? Where can I hire someone who would be able to arrange this?

Hi,

The XML feed you posted has a lot of errors.
But that doesn't mean the plugin has errors. It's probably that you configured the plugin settings and/or your products wrongly.
Configuring all this is not easy as Google has strict specifications.
You need to follow the "Product data specification" from Google for this based on what you're selling:
support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052...995527637&hl=en&rd=1

For example, if you've configured a GTIN in your products with an invalid format, not supported by Google, every product in the XML will fail and thus produce a large amount of errors when you try to import it.
As Google explains, the GTIN only supports a limited number of formats:
support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324...5383-3995527637&rd=1

Just having the plugin generate a XML without tweaking its settings nor your products for your needs based on what Google requires will likely generate a XML with a lot of errors. The inline help available for each option of the plugin should provide great help in properly setting up the different settings. So I would recommend checking it if you didn't do it yet.

Since you have a lot of errors, I would recommend opening the generated XML file with notepad and deleting the XML of most products to only leave a few products in it. That way, Google will display the list of errors when you import the XML and that will also help a lot in understanding what is wrong with what you configured.

If you need someone to help you setup the plugin and your products to get a valid XML, we can.
Please go through our contact form:
www.hikashop.com/support/contact-us.html
There, provide a backend access and the errors Google reports you with the small XML.

Maybe even the first error would be the problem? No header row was found...
If I understand correctly XML has no headers. So maybe XML is just not a suitable format?

I had missed the no header row error message.
This indicates that you're not importing the xml file in the google merchant interface but Somewhere else which doesn't accept xml files:
